What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • Heart disease, angina, or irregular heartbeat

  • History of heart attack, stroke, or congestive heart failure

  • Low or high blood pressure

  • Liver or kidney disease

  • Retinitis pigmentosa (a rare genetic eye disease)

  • Stomach ulcers or bleeding disorders

  • Deformed penis or Peyronie’s disease

  • Blood cell disorders like sickle cell anemia, leukemia, or multiple myeloma

  • Any recent history of prolonged or painful erections

  • An unusual or allergic reaction to sildenafil, other PDE5 inhibitors, foods, dyes, or preservatives

  • If you are taking nitrates for chest pain

  • If you are taking riociguat (Adempas)

  • If you are taking alpha-blockers for blood pressure or prostate issues

  • If you consume large amounts of alcohol or use recreational drugs


How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. It is usually taken 30 minutes to 1 hour before sexual activity, but not more than once daily. It will only work with sexual stimulation.

Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Do not take it with high-fat meals or grapefruit juice as they may delay the effect.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

What if I miss a dose?

Suhagra is usually taken as needed, so a missed dose is not likely. Do not take extra doses to make up for one missed.


What may interact with this medicine?

  • Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin)

  • Alpha-blockers (e.g., doxazosin, tamsulosin)

  • Other medicines for erectile dysfunction

  • Riociguat

  • Antifungals like ketoconazole or itraconazole

  • Antibiotics like erythromycin or clarithromycin

  • HIV medications (ritonavir, saquinavir)

  • Grapefruit juice

This list may not include all possible interactions. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, and herbal products you use. Also mention if you smoke or consume alcohol.


What should I watch for while using this medicine?

  • Seek medical attention if the erection lasts longer than 4 hours (priapism)

  • Do not use Suhagra with other ED medications

  • Avoid alcohol as it may increase side effects like dizziness or low blood pressure

  • Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how the medicine affects you

  • Report any sudden vision or hearing loss to your doctor immediately

  • If you feel chest pain, nausea, or dizziness during sex, stop immediately and seek medical help


What side effects may I notice from this medicine?

Serious side effects (report immediately):

  • Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, especially of the face/tongue/throat)

  • Chest pain

  • Irregular heartbeat

  • Shortness of breath

  • Sudden vision or hearing loss

  • Painful or prolonged erection (more than 4 hours)

  • Seizures

Less serious side effects (may not need medical attention):

  • Headache

  • Flushing

  • Indigestion or upset stomach

  • Nasal congestion

  • Back pain or muscle aches

  • Dizziness

  • Blurred vision or sensitivity to light
