What is this medicine?
IVERGUARD (IVERMECTIN 12 mg) is an antiparasitic medicine. It is used to treat infections caused by certain parasites, such as intestinal strongyloidiasis (roundworm infection), onchocerciasis (river blindness), scabies, and other parasitic skin or intestinal infections. It works by paralyzing and killing the parasites.
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

immune system problems

seizures or epilepsy

Loa loa infection (eye worm)

an unusual or allergic reaction to ivermectin, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives

pregnant or trying to get pregnant

How should I use this medicine?
Take this medicine by mouth with a full glass of water on an empty stomach, usually at least 1 hour before a meal. Take your dose as a single dose unless directed otherwise by your doctor.
Take it exactly as prescribed. Do not take more often than directed. Do not stop taking this medicine except on your doctor’s advice.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room right away.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
What may interact with this medicine?

alcohol (may increase side effects)

What should I watch for while using this medicine?
You may need to have stool or blood tests after treatment to make sure the infection is cleared.
If you are being treated for river blindness (onchocerciasis), you may experience a reaction to the dying parasites, such as fever, itching, rash, joint or muscle pain, or swollen lymph nodes. Contact your doctor if symptoms are severe.
Tell your doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve after treatment.
Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine, as it may increase the risk of side effects like dizziness and drowsiness.
This medication may make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that requires mental alertness until you know how this medicine affects you.
What side effects may I notice from this medicine?
Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:

Where should I keep my medicine?
Keep out of the reach of children.
Store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Protect from light and moisture.
