What is this medicine?
ACCUFINE (Isotretinoin 20 mg) is a retinoid (vitamin A derivative) used to treat severe nodular acne that has not responded to other treatments such as antibiotics. It works by reducing the amount of oil released by oil glands in your skin and helping your skin renew itself more quickly.
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

Mental health problems (such as depression, suicidal thoughts)

Eating disorders (especially anorexia nervosa)

Bone loss conditions (osteoporosis or others)

Vitamin A overdose history

Pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breast-feeding
IMPORTANT: Women who are pregnant must not take isotretinoin due to a high risk of severe birth defects. You must use two forms of effective birth control and have regular pregnancy tests while using this medicine.
How should I use this medicine?
Take this medicine by mouth with a full glass of water. Swallow whole—do not chew, crush, or open the capsule. Take with food to improve absorption.
Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not stop taking except on the advice of your doctor.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much, contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
