What is this medicine?
TEMSUNOL-D Tablet is a combination of Tamsulosin (an alpha-blocker) and Dutasteride (a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor). This medicine is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men. It helps relieve symptoms like difficulty in urination, increased frequency, or urgency by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder and shrinking the enlarged prostate over time.


What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • liver disease

  • kidney disease

  • low blood pressure or history of fainting

  • prostate cancer

  • planned eye surgery (e.g., cataract or glaucoma)

  • a history of allergic reaction to tamsulosin, dutasteride, finasteride, or similar medicines

  • women who are pregnant or may become pregnant (Note: this medicine is not for use in women)

  • if you donate blood or plan to donate blood

  • if you are taking medications for erectile dysfunction or high blood pressure


How should I use this medicine?
Take this medicine by mouth once daily, after the same meal each day, with a glass of water. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush, chew, or break it.

Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.


What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take only your regular dose. Do not take double or extra doses.


What may interact with this medicine?

  • other alpha-blockers (e.g., doxazosin, terazosin)

  • antifungal medicines (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole)

  • HIV protease inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir)

  • antibiotics like erythromycin or clarithromycin

  • PDE5 inhibitors for erectile dysfunction (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil)

  • warfarin

  • medications for blood pressure

This list may not include all interactions. Provide your health care provider with a complete list of all the medicines, herbs, and supplements you use. Also let them know if you smoke, drink alcohol, or use recreational drugs.


What should I watch for while using this medicine?
Visit your doctor regularly to monitor your condition and response to the medication.

This medicine may cause dizziness or fainting, especially when rising from a sitting or lying position. Rise slowly to reduce the risk. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.

Let your eye surgeon know you are taking this medicine before any cataract or glaucoma surgery.

Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant must not handle crushed or broken tablets, as dutasteride may be absorbed through the skin and harm a male fetus.

Avoid donating blood while on this medication and for at least 6 months after stopping it.


What side effects may I notice from this medicine?

Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:

  • signs of allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling of the face/lips/tongue/throat)

  • difficulty breathing or swallowing

  • chest pain or irregular heartbeat

  • severe dizziness or fainting

  • breast lumps or nipple discharge

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report if bothersome or persistent):

  • decreased sexual desire or performance

  • problems with ejaculation

  • breast tenderness or enlargement

  • dizziness

  • headache

  • runny or stuffy nose

Where should I keep my medicine?
Keep out of the reach of children.

Store at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Protect from moisture and light. Do not use the medicine after the expiration date. Dispose of unused medicine properly.
