CALCIGEN 500 mg contains Calcium Carbonate, which is a calcium supplement. It is used to prevent or treat low blood calcium levels in people who do not get enough calcium from their diets. It may be used to support bone health in conditions like osteoporosis, osteomalacia/rickets, or osteopenia, and during pregnancy, lactation, or postmenopause.


What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • High levels of calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia)

  • High levels of calcium in the urine (hypercalciuria)

  • Kidney stones or kidney disease

  • Parathyroid gland disorders

  • Malabsorption syndrome

  • Stomach or intestinal problems

  • An unusual or allergic reaction to calcium carbonate, other calcium supplements, foods, dyes, or preservatives

  • Pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • Breast-feeding


How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. It is best absorbed with food. Follow the instructions on the label or those given by your doctor or pharmacist.

Take at regular intervals. Do not take more than directed.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.


What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose.
Do not take double or extra doses.
