What is this medicine?
ATORVASTATIN (ATORSAFE) is a statin. This medicine is used to lower levels of bad cholesterol (LDL), raise good cholesterol (HDL), and reduce triglycerides in the blood. It helps prevent heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular problems, especially in patients with risk factors like diabetes, high blood pressure, or a history of heart disease. It works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme needed to make cholesterol in the liver.
