What is this medicine?

LIPIDATOR 10 mg contains Atorvastatin, a statin medication. It is used to lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides, and to increase good cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. It helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other heart-related complications, especially in people with diabetes, high blood pressure, or other risk factors.


What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • liver disease or abnormal liver function tests

  • kidney disease

  • muscle disorders or a family history of muscle conditions

  • thyroid problems

  • diabetes

  • heavy alcohol use

  • if you are of Asian descent (dose adjustment may be needed)

  • an unusual or allergic reaction to atorvastatin, other statins, or any components of this medication

  • pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • breast-feeding


How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth, with or without food. Take it once a day at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

Follow the instructions given by your doctor. Do not take more than prescribed, and do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room right away.


What if I miss a dose?

  • Report any unusual muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if accompanied by fever or tiredness.

  • Avoid drinking excessive alcohol, which may increase the risk of liver problems.

  • Follow a heart-healthy diet and exercise plan as advised.

  • This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Inform your doctor if you become or plan to become pregnant.

  • Watch for signs of liver trouble: yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, persistent nausea or abdominal pain.

  • Avoid grapefruit juice in large amounts unless your doctor says it’s safe.


What side effects may I notice from this medicine?

  • muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness

  • yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
