What is this medicine?
AVANA contains Avanafil, a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. It is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It helps increase blood flow to the penis to help a man get and keep an erection when sexually stimulated.
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

Heart problems such as irregular heartbeat, angina, chest pain, or recent heart attack

History of stroke or low blood pressure
-
High blood pressure that is not controlled

Liver or kidney disease
-
Eye problems such as retinitis pigmentosa or sudden vision loss

Deformity of the penis or conditions like Peyronie’s disease

Bleeding disorders
-
Stomach ulcers
-
An unusual or allergic reaction to avanafil, other PDE5 inhibitors, foods, dyes, or preservatives

If you are taking any nitrate medications
-
If you are taking medicines for pulmonary arterial hypertension like riociguat
-
If you are using recreational drugs called “poppers” (amyl nitrate or nitrite)
-
If you are taking alpha-blockers for blood pressure or prostate problems
How should I use this medicine?
Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. It is usually taken about 15 to 30 minutes before sexual activity. Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours. This medicine will not work without sexual stimulation. Follow the directions on the prescription label.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.
What if I miss a dose?
This medicine is taken as needed before sexual activity. It is not meant to be taken on a regular schedule. Do not take extra doses to make up for a missed one.
What may interact with this medicine?
