What is this medicine?
COVIQUEEN (Hydroxychloroquine Sulphate 200 mg) is an antimalarial and immunomodulatory medicine. It is used for the prevention and treatment of malaria. It is also commonly prescribed for autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was sometimes used off-label, but this is no longer widely recommended.
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)

How should I use this medicine?
Take this medicine by mouth with a full glass of water. It is best taken with food or milk to avoid stomach upset. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not stop taking this medicine without your doctor’s advice.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately. Overdose can be fatal, especially in children.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
What may interact with this medicine?

diabetes medications (may increase risk of low blood sugar)

medicines that affect the heart rhythm (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol)

What should I watch for while using this medicine?

Monitor for signs of low blood sugar like dizziness, sweating, confusion – especially if you are diabetic.

This drug may increase sensitivity to sunlight. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing.

Avoid alcohol as it may increase the risk of liver problems.
