What is this medicine?

ENDACE 40 mg Tablet contains Megestrol Acetate, a synthetic progestin (a man-made hormone similar to the female hormone progesterone). It is used to treat loss of appetite and weight loss in patients with cancer or AIDS. It may also be used in the treatment of certain types of cancers, such as breast cancer and endometrial cancer.


What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • Diabetes

  • History of blood clots or stroke

  • Heart disease

  • Kidney or liver disease

  • Adrenal gland problems (e.g., Cushing’s syndrome)

  • Osteoporosis or bone problems

  • An unusual or allergic reaction to megestrol, other hormones, foods, dyes, or preservatives

  • Pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • Breast-feeding


How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. It may be taken with or without food. Follow the dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take more than directed.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.


What if I miss a dose?
