It is used in the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It helps slow down the decline in physical function in ALS patients. In some cases, it may also be used for acute ischemic stroke, to help reduce brain damage due to lack of oxygen.


What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • Asthma or other breathing problems

  • Liver disease

  • Kidney disease

  • History of allergic reactions to Edaravone or sulfite-containing medicines

  • An unusual or allergic reaction to edaravone, sulfites, preservatives, or other medications

  • Pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • Breast-feeding


How should I use this medicine?

This medicine is given by intravenous (IV) infusion, usually in a hospital or clinical setting under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

  • Administered over 60 minutes once a day according to a treatment cycle prescribed by your doctor (typically 14 days on followed by 14 days off in the initial cycles).

  • Do not self-administer unless instructed and trained by a medical professional.

Overdosage: In case of overdose or if you experience any severe symptoms, contact emergency services or a poison control center immediately.
