What is this medicine?
ESZOP (Eszopiclone) is a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic. This medicine is used to treat insomnia, a condition where you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. It works by helping you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

history of drug or alcohol abuse or dependence

depression or other mental health disorders

liver disease

lung or breathing disorders, including sleep apnea

muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis)

history of sleepwalking or unusual behaviors during sleep

an unusual or allergic reaction to eszopiclone, zopiclone, zaleplon, zolpidem, or other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives

pregnant or trying to get pregnant

breast-feeding
How should I use this medicine?
Take this medicine by mouth at bedtime with a full glass of water. Do not take it with or immediately after a high-fat or heavy meal, as this may delay its effect. Take it only when you are ready to go to sleep and can stay in bed for at least 7 to 8 hours.
Take exactly as prescribed. Do not take more than directed.
Do not share this medicine with others.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
What if I miss a dose?
This medicine is taken only at bedtime as needed. If you miss a dose, do not take it during waking hours. Do not take double or extra doses.
What may interact with this medicine?

Avoid activities that require alertness (like driving or operating machinery) until you know how this medicine affects you.

This medicine may cause next-day drowsiness or dizziness, especially if taken with less than 7–8 hours of sleep.
