What is this medicine?

GABASIGN 300 mg contains Gabapentin, which belongs to a class of medications known as anticonvulsants. This medicine is used to:

  • Control and prevent partial seizures in people with epilepsy

  • Treat nerve pain caused by conditions such as shingles (postherpetic neuralgia) or diabetic neuropathy

  • It may also be used off-label for restless leg syndrome, fibromyalgia, and anxiety disorders


What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • Kidney disease or if you are undergoing dialysis

  • History of depression, mood disorders, or suicidal thoughts

  • Lung or breathing disorders (especially if taking opioids or sedatives)

  • History of alcohol or substance abuse

  • Any seizure disorders or changes in seizure frequency

  • An unusual or allergic reaction to gabapentin or similar medicines, other drugs, foods, dyes, or preservatives

  • Pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • Breast-feeding


How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. It may be taken with or without food.

Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not suddenly stop taking this medicine, especially if used for seizures—this may cause withdrawal or worsen your condition. Your doctor will guide you on how to taper the dose gradually.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.


What if I miss a dose?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember.
If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.


What may interact with this medicine?

  • Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium (space at least 2 hours before or after taking gabapentin)

  • Opioids such as morphine (may increase gabapentin’s effects)

  • Alcohol or other sedatives

  • Medicines that make you drowsy or dizzy
