They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • kidney disease

  • liver disease

  • history of lactic acidosis

  • dehydration

  • if you are on a low-calorie or low-carbohydrate diet

  • if you are scheduled for surgery or X-ray or scan involving contrast dye

  • pregnant or trying to get pregnant

How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water after food, usually once or twice daily as directed by your doctor. Swallow whole; do not crush or chew the tablet.

Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take more than prescribed. Do not stop taking this medicine unless advised by your doctor.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately.


What if I miss a dose?
