INDOSTAR (Indomethacin) 75 mg is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is used to relieve pain, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, and other musculoskeletal conditions. It works by reducing the levels of prostaglandins, substances in the body that cause inflammation.


What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • asthma, especially if triggered by NSAIDs

  • history of heart attack, stroke, or blood clots

  • high blood pressure

  • heart disease or congestive heart failure

  • liver or kidney disease

  • bleeding problems or history of stomach ulcers

  • depression or other mental health issues

  • Parkinson’s disease or epilepsy

  • an unusual or allergic reaction to indomethacin, aspirin, other NSAIDs, or sulfa drugs

  • if you smoke or drink alcohol frequently

  • pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • breast-feeding


How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth with a full glass of water. It is best taken with food or milk to avoid stomach upset. Swallow the extended-release capsule whole; do not crush or chew.

Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than prescribed. Do not stop taking this medicine unless instructed by your doctor or health care professional.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately.


What if I miss a dose?
