It works by paralyzing and killing the parasites.


What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • asthma or other breathing problems

  • liver disease

  • history of seizures

  • immune system problems (such as HIV/AIDS)

  • Loa loa (African eye worm) infection

  • if you are on a special diet

  • an unusual or allergic reaction to ivermectin, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives

  • pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • breast-feeding


How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth with a full glass of water on an empty stomach, preferably 1 hour before a meal. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Do not take more medicine than directed. The dosage depends on the condition being treated and your body weight.
