What is this medicine?
IVERLAST (IVERMECTIN 12 mg) is an antiparasitic agent. It is used to treat parasitic infections such as strongyloidiasis (intestinal worm infection), onchocerciasis (river blindness), scabies, and head lice. It works by binding to specific chloride channels in the parasite’s nerve and muscle cells, leading to paralysis and death of the parasite.
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

history of seizures or epilepsy

Loa loa (eye worm) infection

weakened immune system (e.g., HIV/AIDS or corticosteroid use)

an unusual or allergic reaction to ivermectin, similar medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives

How should I use this medicine?
Take this medicine by mouth with a full glass of water on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after food), unless otherwise directed by your doctor. Take the dose exactly as prescribed.
Take your doses at the same time each day. Do not take more than directed. Do not stop using this medicine without your doctor’s advice.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much, contact a poison control center or emergency room immediately.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
What may interact with this medicine?

What should I watch for while using this medicine?
See your doctor regularly to monitor progress and response to treatment.
If you’re being treated for onchocerciasis, you may experience a reaction called Mazzotti reaction, which may include fever, rash, itching, swollen lymph nodes, joint pain, or eye discomfort. Contact your doctor if these occur.
Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how this medicine affects you. It may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid alcohol as it can intensify these effects.
Tell your doctor if you are or plan to become pregnant. Ivermectin should only be used in pregnancy if clearly needed.
What side effects may I notice from this medicine?

Where should I keep my medicine?
