KAYMEDOROL (Methylprednisolone) is a corticosteroid. This medicine is used to reduce inflammation and suppress the immune system in various conditions such as severe allergies, asthma, arthritis, skin disorders, lupus, and certain autoimmune diseases. It may also be used in some cancers and hormone disorders.


What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • any active infection, including fungal, viral, or bacterial

  • tuberculosis or history of TB

  • high blood pressure

  • diabetes

  • osteoporosis

  • psychiatric disorders or mood swings

  • glaucoma or cataracts

  • stomach ulcers or history of gastrointestinal bleeding

  • kidney or liver disease

  • low thyroid function

  • recent surgery or trauma

  • vaccination history (especially recent live vaccines)

  • an unusual or allergic reaction to methylprednisolone, other corticosteroids, or any other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives

  • pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • breast-feeding


How should I use this medicine?
Take this medicine by mouth with food or milk to prevent stomach upset. Swallow with a glass of water. Take your doses at regular intervals as prescribed. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without your doctor’s guidance, as it may need to be tapered down gradually.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.


What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

  • aspirin and NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen)
