What is this medicine?
ATORVASTATIN (LIPIDATOR) is a statin. This medicine is used to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. It helps prevent heart disease, stroke, and other complications in individuals at risk. Atorvastatin works by blocking an enzyme in the liver that is needed to make cholesterol.
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

alcohol use or history of alcohol abuse

How should I use this medicine?
Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. You can take it with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not stop taking this medicine except on the advice of your doctor or health care professional.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
What may interact with this medicine?

Avoid drinking large amounts of alcohol, as it may increase the risk of liver problems.
Women should not become pregnant while taking this medicine. If you become pregnant, stop taking the medicine immediately and inform your doctor. Atorvastatin can harm an unborn baby.
