What is this medicine?
Lodonak 1.5 mg contains naltrexone, an opioid antagonist. It is used for alcohol dependence and opioid dependence, helping reduce cravings and block euphoric effects if relapse occurs
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
Make sure your provider knows if you have any of the following:

Liver disease or acute hepatitis, as naltrexone can be hepatotoxic .

Severe kidney dysfunction, which can affect drug metabolism Allergy to naltrexone or similar medications like naloxone.

Currently using opioids (for pain relief or otherwise); you must have been off opioids for at least 7–14 days to avoid precipitating withdrawal

Planning major surgery (naltrexone should be stopped 7 days before surgery)

Whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding – safety in these groups is unclear .
How should I use this medicine?

Take 1 capsule (1.5 mg) orally once daily, with or without food. Swallow it whole; do not crush or chew

May take several weeks before you notice improvement in cravings or relapse prevention.

Do not stop suddenly without consulting your provider to avoid withdrawal or relapse.
Overdosage
If you think you’ve taken too much, seek emergency medical care or call poison control immediately.
Missed dose
Take as soon as you remember unless it’s near your next dose. Do not double up.
What may interact with this medicine?

Opioids – will block their effects and can precipitate withdrawal.

CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, ritonavir) may affect metabolism.

Other CNS depressants (e.g., sedatives, alcohol).

Herbal supplements (e.g., St. John’s wort).

What should I watch for while using this medicine?

Need liver function tests periodically due to potential hepatotoxicity.

Do not consume opioids or alcohol while taking this medication.

Pregnant/breastfeeding women should avoid handling crushed capsules due to potential harm to the fetus or infant.

Monitor for signs of liver injury: dark urine, jaundice, severe abdominal pain.

Immediate breast changes (e.g., lumps) should be reported.

Avoid blood donation while on treatment and for at least 6 months after stopping.
What side effects may I notice from this medicine?
