What is this medicine?
MINOXIBOON (Minoxidil) is a vasodilator. This medicine is used to treat severe high blood pressure (hypertension) that has not responded well to other medications. It works by relaxing blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily. In some cases, it may also be used off-label to promote hair growth in certain types of hair loss (though topical forms are more common for that use).
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
-
congestive heart failure
-
coronary artery disease or previous heart attack
-
kidney disease or on dialysis
-
pheochromocytoma (adrenal gland tumor)
-
recent or planned major surgery
-
any swelling (edema) or fluid retention issues
-
an unusual or allergic reaction to minoxidil or other medicines
-
if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant
-
if you are breast-feeding
How should I use this medicine?
Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. Take your doses at regular intervals, exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually taken with other medications such as a diuretic and a beta-blocker to control side effects.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room right away.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

What should I watch for while using this medicine?
