What is this medicine?

ONDAHEAL MD 8 mg contains Ondansetron, which is a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. This medicine is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by:

  • Chemotherapy or radiotherapy for cancer

  • Surgery (post-operative nausea and vomiting)

It works by blocking the effect of serotonin, a natural substance in the body that can trigger nausea and vomiting.


What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • Heart problems (like irregular heartbeat, long QT syndrome)

  • Liver disease

  • Low levels of magnesium or potassium in the blood

  • Stomach or bowel blockage

  • History of seizures

  • Any allergic reaction to Ondansetron or other 5-HT3 antagonists (e.g., granisetron)

  • Phenylketonuria (some mouth-dissolving tablets may contain aspartame)

  • Pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • Breast-feeding


How should I use this medicine?

Place the mouth-dissolving tablet (MD) on the tongue. Allow it to dissolve and then swallow. Do not chew or swallow whole. It can be taken with or without food.

Take your doses at regular intervals as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more than directed.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.


What if I miss a dose?
