ONDOC 8 mg Tablet contains Ondansetron, which is a selective serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. This medicine is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by:

  • Surgery (postoperative nausea and vomiting)

Ondansetron works by blocking serotonin, a natural substance in the body that can cause nausea and vomiting.


What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • Liver disease

  • Irregular heart rhythms (e.g., long QT syndrome)

  • Electrolyte imbalances (low potassium or magnesium)

  • History of seizures

  • Intestinal blockage or recent abdominal surgery

  • Phenylketonuria (PKU), if the formulation contains aspartame

  • An unusual or allergic reaction to ondansetron or other similar medicines (e.g., granisetron, dolasetron)

  • Pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • Breast-feeding


How should I use this medicine?

  • SSRIs or SNRIs (e.g., fluoxetine, sertraline, venlafaxine) — may increase risk of serotonin syndrome

  • Phenytoin, carbamazepine, rifampin — may decrease ondansetron levels

  • Other serotonergic drugs (e.g., lithium, linezolid, St. John’s Wort)
