What is this medicine?

RIVAROX 20mg Tablet contains Rivaroxaban, which is an oral anticoagulant (blood thinner). It works by inhibiting Factor Xa, an enzyme involved in blood clot formation. This medicine is used to:

  • Prevent and treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE)

  • Reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF)

  • Prevent DVT following hip or knee replacement surgery


What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • Active bleeding or a bleeding disorder

  • Liver disease or impaired liver function

  • Severe kidney disease or on dialysis

  • Artificial heart valves

  • History of stroke or recent brain/spinal surgery

  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure

  • Any recent or planned surgeries

  • A history of peptic ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding

  • An unusual or allergic reaction to rivaroxaban or other blood thinners

  • Pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • Breast-feeding


How should I use this medicine?

Take this medicine by mouth with a full glass of water. It is usually taken once daily with food, especially the 20 mg dose. Always follow the exact dosage and timing as prescribed by your doctor.

Do not stop taking this medicine without your doctor’s advice, as it may increase the risk of blood clots.

Overdosage:
If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.


What if I miss a dose?
