What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • Eczema or other chronic skin conditions

  • Sunburn or very sensitive skin

  • An unusually high sensitivity to sunlight

  • An allergic reaction to tretinoin, retinoids, or any other ingredients in the cream

  • If you use other topical treatments or cosmetics

  • Pregnant or trying to get pregnant

  • Breast-feeding


How should I use this medicine?
Use this medicine exactly as directed by your doctor or skin care professional.

  • Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin, usually once daily at bedtime.

  • Avoid applying to eyes, mouth, corners of the nose, or broken/irritated skin.

  • Wash your hands before and after applying the cream.

  • Do not use more often or in larger amounts than prescribed. It will not improve results faster but may increase side effects.

Overdosage: This medicine is for external use only. If swallowed, contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.


What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not apply double or extra amounts.


What may interact with this medicine?

  • Products containing benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, resorcinol, or sulfur

  • Harsh soaps or cleansers, astringents, or other products that dry or irritate the skin

  • Cosmetics or skin products with alcohol, lime, menthol, or spices

  • Medications that increase sun sensitivity (e.g., thiazide diuretics, tetracyclines, sulfa drugs)

What should I watch for while using this medicine?

  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure and use sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily.

  • Your skin may become more sensitive, red, or start peeling during the first few weeks of treatment. This is normal and usually improves.

  • Use a gentle moisturizer to reduce dryness or irritation.

  • Do not apply on eczematous or sunburned skin.

  • Avoid waxing or laser treatments in the treated area unless advised by your doctor.

  • Tell your doctor if you become pregnant. Tretinoin should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.

  • Severe skin irritation or burning
